The selfie soiree was in full swing around 2 a.m. on Friday, June 3, at a Super 8 motel in Stafford. Staff at the motel called the Stafford County Sheriff's Office after a guest reported hearing a gunshot come from one of the balconies.

Deputies scoured security videos to find out what happened.

Thye found a clip of a group of men on a balcony posing for photos while holding a gun, the Sheriff's Office said. But after one of the men grabbed the pistol and made a pose, something went wrong. The video didn't have audio, but authorities said it was clear to see that the gun fired. The party broke up soon after, deputies said.

Deputies arrested Josue Guardado Garcia and charged him with reckless handling, brandishing, shooting in a public area, and shooting in a no-shooting zone, the Sheriff's Office said. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 bond.

No injuries or property damage was reported in the shooting. Deputies didn't say how the selfie turned out.
